Al Franken Age, Height, Weight: Al Franken, officially known as Alan Stuart Franken is an American politician, comedian, writer, actor, and media personality.

Franken first gained fame as a writer and performer on the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live, where he worked for three stints.

He first served as a writer for the show from 1977 to 1980, followed by a short return in 1986, and then a third and final stint from 1988 to 1995, where he served as a writer and, briefly, a member of the cast.

After decades as an entertainer, Al Franken became a prominent liberal political activist, hosting The Al Franken Show on Air America Radio.

As a politician and a member of the Democratic Party, he served as a United States senator for Minnesota from 2009 to 2018.

Franken was elected to the United States Senate in 2008 as the nominee of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party; DFL, an affiliate of the Democratic Party.

He defeated incumbent Republican Senator Norm Coleman by 312 votes out of nearly three million casts, a margin of just over 0.01% in one of the closest elections in the history of the Senate.

Franken was reelected in 2014 but resigned on January 2, 2018, after allegations of sexual misconduct were made against him. He apologized without admitting wrongdoing.

In September 2019, he announced he would be hosting The Al Franken Show Saturday mornings on SiriusXM radio, a program that covers global affairs, politics, the 2020 presidential election, and entertainment.

The former senator is returning to his roots of late-night comedy, sitting in the host’s chair for a weeklong run headlining “The Daily Show.”

Starting on the night of Monday, March 27, Al Franken will be filling in as guest host following the departure of Trevor Noah.

In an interview on Monday, March 20, Franken said he’s nervous to host “The Daily Show,” but that an abundance of news makes his return to late-night easier.

The series is broadcast on Comedy Central, a division of CBS’ parent company, Paramount Global.

Franken was a writer and cast member for “Saturday Night Live,” where he worked for 15 seasons, before becoming an Air America Radio host and bestselling author.

He later became a senator from Minnesota and served nine years in office. He resigned in 2018 over sexual misconduct allegations. He apologized without admitting wrongdoing.
