Alix Earle was born in Monmouth County, New Jersey, the eldest of five children to Thomas “TJ” Earle, a construction magnate in Wall Township, New Jersey, and Alisa Earle. Earle’s parents are divorced. In October 2013, her father remarried Ashley Alexandra Dupré, five years after Dupré was implicated in the Eliot Spitzer prostitution scandal.

She attended Red Bank Catholic High School in Red Bank, New Jersey. Alix Earle attended the University of Miami, graduating in May 2023 with a degree in Marketing from the University of Miami Patti and the Allan Herbert School of Business. In August 2023, Earle awarded the Alix Earle Scholarship to students in the School of Business.

Alix Earle began posting on TikTok in February 2020 during her freshman year at the University of Miami. Her first video showed her and her friends showing off costumes made from trash bags. In a 2023 interview on The Howard Stern Show, Earle said that she initially tried to portray a perfect, idealized character. “When I started, I didn’t know anything. I was trying to be perfect. I thought that was the way to go.”

Alix Earle’s growth on TikTok accelerated in the summer of 2022, when she suffered from acne caused by excessive cysts on her face. Her manager informed her that she needed to post a sponsored video on her TikTok. Due to her acne, she initially refused but then decided she could use her platform to help others deal with the same problem. Shee later described viewer reaction as positive and supportive.

Following her acne video, Alix Earle began posting “Get Ready With Me” (GRWM) videos showcasing her makeup routine while discussing her daily life. The move proved popular with viewers, and Earle amassed two million new followers on TikTok by the end of 2022.

In December 2022, she broke up with Tyler Wade, a professional baseball player for the Oakland Athletics whom she was dating. Alix Earle’s number of followers on TikTok grew, leading her to be named the app’s “It Girl” in January 2023. A few weeks after the split, her subscriber count increased by more than two million.

As of April 2023, Alix Earle’s TikTok followers exceeded 5.6 million, an increase of 1,000% in six months. It receives an average of two million to thirty million views per post. In August 2023, Alix Earle was announced as one of the first two content partners of Alexandra Cooper’s The Unwell Network, a talent network. She was named to the 2023 Forbes 30 Under 30 list.

Alix Earle’s popularity and the loyalty of her fans often caused the brands she endorsed to sell out very quickly, dubbed the “Alix Earle effect”. According to influencer marketing company Ubiquitous, one of Earle’s videos can increase product searches by up to 100% in a day and she earns between $40,000 and $70,000 per sponsored video.
