Born in Bilbao to Ghanaian parents who arrived in Spain by crossing the Sahara on foot and navigating the Melilla border fence, Williams spent his formative years in Pamplona. Athletic Bilbao recognized his talent while he played youth football with CD Pamplona, signing him to their Lezama youth setup at the age of 18.

Williams’ journey with Athletic Bilbao began in the Juvenil A side, where he showcased remarkable goal-scoring prowess. His impressive performances led to a new contract in June 2013.
