Patricia was a four-year letterman for the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Engineers football team, playing center and guard from 1992 to 1995.

In 1996, Patricia started working as a graduate assistant coach at RPI. The following two years were spent in East Syracuse, New York, working as an application engineer with Hoffman Air & Filtration Systems.

Patricia turned down a job offer from Westinghouse Electric Company to maintain nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers after graduating, choosing instead to coach Amherst College’s defensive line from 1999 to 2000.

He relocated to Syracuse University in 2001 and spent three seasons there as the team’s offensive graduate assistant.

In 2004, Patricia became an offensive coaching assistant for the Patriots, who were led by head coach Bill Belichick, and helped the team win its third Super Bowl in Super Bowl XXXIX.

Patricia was moved to the Patriots as the assistant offensive line coach in 2005 following the resignation of assistant offensive line/tight ends coach Jeff Davidson.
